 Dear TCA Families, 

Even with all the chaos that has presented us since February, there is still so much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving.  We know this is not a year full of typical celebrations and gatherings with friends and families, but we hope you are still able to take a moment to appreciate how far we have come this year.

Recently, we have received a notice from the Bellevue School District that our accreditation are not being recognized for language credits per state OSPI requirement. Therefore, we will no longer plan on renewing our school’s for academic language accreditation after our certification is due at the end of June 2021. Instead, students must take the World Language Competency test or the AP Chinese exam to earn foreign language credits. We understand the importance of education for our students, and the academic team has been working hard to integrate the language tests into our teaching curricula to best prepare the higher-level students.

A different Halloween - Flea Market of Honor store & 2019 Attendance Award

 

孩子，我們想寵寵你

2020年十月的最後一天，早上如常的線上課程後，志工立即奔向會所，為下午的跳蚤市場活動展開佈置。囿於新冠疫情的關係，人文學校自三月起改為線上課程，完成了2019學年度，延續至2020學年度的開課。換句話說，從三月起，人文學校這個大家庭已經超過八個月不曾面對面或舉辦活動，但是答應孩子的全勤獎還有榮譽卡還是懸在行政團隊的心上，思考何時能實現對孩子的諾言。

 

安全第一，活動第二

十月初，景郡(King County)的疫情趨於穩定，學校決定舉辦一個小型的活動，讓學生可以來兌換榮譽卡的獎品，領取全勤獎盃，同時讓孩子在這天可以玩一玩萬聖節，讓童年不留白。志工仔細閱讀州政府及市府的團聚規定，嚴謹的安排動線，並且讓家長填寫參與的預估時間，以便控制排隊人數在安全範圍內。活動在會所的戶外進行，志工在排隊的入口處為每個人量體溫、遞淨手液、每一站都有淨手液以及消毒噴霧，由志工隨時清潔被觸摸過的地方。

入口處之後，志工為每一個孩子發糖果，並且提供免費的口罩，然後引導每個家庭到照相區留影，沾沾過節的氣氛。

 

簡單卻誠意十足的頒獎典禮

經過了照相區，校長在領獎處等候得獎學生，為了減少交叉感染，這也是第一次得獎學生在擺置的獎盃桌上自己拿獎盃，在志工們”唱”得獎歌的同時和校長合影紀念。看到孩子和家長被志工的歡樂歌聲驚喜的表情，想必孩子們有被感動到。

 

榮譽商店提供動靜換獎新體驗

榮譽商店設在會所的正門口處，由志工控制人流以保持安全社交距離，由於疫情的關係，所有的獎品都是單包裝的新品，讓家長可以安心。另一個亮點是學校提供了兩台扭蛋機，讓孩子可以來試試手氣，看看扭到了什麼獎品。

 

棉花糖感謝參與

換完榮譽卡獎品，出口處學校提供了彩色的棉花糖，感謝家長對學校的信賴，感謝孩子們對學習的努力，願意開車來參加一個不到15分鐘的活動，願意來跟志工及老師打招呼。

 

每一個活動都是一場愛的傳遞

這次久違了的學校活動，引出了居家避疫的教育志工來幫忙，也號召了只在線上看到臉的助教來助陣，見到彼此時雖然只能數呎之外打招呼，但是內心的暖意和歡喜則是不言而喻。誠如育儒師兄分享説很高興能參加此次活動，才可能像孩子一樣過了一個比較正常有點活力的下午，道出了所有志工的心情。志工行政團隊在活動結束，收拾好場地，關上會所的大門返家。

感恩每位參與的家長和孩子遵守社交規定，愛護彼此的安全，我們也才能放下忐忑的心，回家為下一週的校務繼續努力。

感恩教育志工及助教，和美麗的秋太陽，一起圓滿了有距離卻緊緊相扣的榮譽商店跳蚤市場暨萬聖節活動，感恩，再感恩。

能夠符合全勤獎的條件是該學生全學年不遲到，不早退，沒有請假，需要三十週的堅持與努力，因為除了孩子自己本身的毅力之外，還需要家長的配合。

雖然受到疫情的限制，學校還是很努力想要獎勵一下我們最愛的孩子們，因為今年的萬聖節正值星期六，因此決定將萬聖節結合榮譽商店換取獎品的機會，歡迎闔家到會所來體驗一下類似跳蚤市場的活動。活動的日期是十月三十一日下午兩點到四點之間，請在活動期間協助您的孩子做萬聖節的裝扮，帶著榮譽卡/紙/狀，蒞臨慈濟西雅圖支會活動場地來領取糖果，還可以用榮譽卡換獎品，而且還有小禮物給來參加的小朋友。雖然這次是個很小規模的活動，為了每個人的健康，請務必戴口罩，排隊時要保持安全距離，我們仍然會為大家量體溫並提供消毒淨手液。活動在戶外舉辦，十月底的天氣不甚穩定，也請注意保暖。活動詳情參閱西雅圖慈濟人文學校部落格。

Although restricted by the epidemic, the school is still working hard to reward our hardworking students. Because this year’s Halloween falls on Saturday, admin team has decided to combine Halloween celebration with the honor store for the opportunity to exchange prizes. You are cordially invited to experience this event. The date of the event is October 31st between 2pm and 4pm. Please help your child to dress up for Halloween and bring honor cards/paper/certificates to the Tzu Chi Seattle branch so students can exchange their earned honor cards for prizes, and there are also candies and small thanks-for-coming gifts. Despite it is a small-scale activity, everyone's health is still the top priority. Please wear a facial mask and keep a safe distance when lining up for each booth. We will still take everyone's temperature and provide hand sanitizer. The weather is getting chill in October, so please dress properly to keep warm. On 10/10/2020, the principal’s coffee time will be held for the first time this school year. 

Registration process for new students (2021-2022) will start in early November.

Material pickup days are 8/28 & 8/29. Each class is allocated its own session for pickup. Please refer to the welcome letter emailed on 8/22.

教材領取日期及時間 Date & time to pick up textbooks/uniform

親愛的家長們

 

今年的暑假跟以往很不同，然而相同的是行政團隊和老師們都全力準備一個月後開學的各項工作。非常感謝您對學校的支持與耐心等待，Bellevue School District 終於確認至今年年底校舍仍將繼續停止對外租借，因此我們別無選擇，也就是今秋的開學後，將持續使用遠端教學 （via Google Classroom and Zoom）。

 

我們非常了解教育品質的重要性，因此從三月到現在暑假期間，教務組一直不間斷地在培育老師們的線上授課的技巧，希望在秋季開學時，我們能達到更優的教育品質。

因應今年的特殊情況，為了減少過多的接觸，領取您孩子的課本、制服及其他教材將以得來速(drive through) 的方式進行。兄弟姊妹可以一起領，請以年紀最小孩子的班級領取時間為主。如果安排朋友或家人來領取，必須以電子郵件告知學校以及被授權領取人的姓名。

 

請特別注意以下相關的領取規定：

 

1. 校長開學歡迎信預估會在 8/22 以電子郵件寄給每一個家庭，隨後各班級老師將會寄給家長們各班級的注意事項。請您依照老師們信中的步驟，印出/寫出您孩子的姓名和班級，這將有助於領取教材正確流暢，以縮短領取的時間。

Dear TCA Families, 

Thank you for your patience and support as we prepare for the fall opening. BSD has confirmed that the school facility will remain closed for all leases at least until the end of this year. This means that we will continue remote learning via Google Classroom and Zoom for Fall 2020.

We understand the importance of education for our students. The academic team has been working hard to support our teachers in preparing for online classes since March. As we move forward with our plans for the fall, we will maintain the same collective commitment to educational excellency.

Due to the special situation this fall, a drive-through pick-up for text book, materials and uniforms will be arranged accordingly. Siblings please pick up at the time/date of the youngest student in your family. You may arrange your pickup by friends or family only if you request so with the person's name by sending email to school.

The following schedule is very important for families to take the right start for the coming Fall semester.

1. The school welcome letter will be emailed out on 8/22, each class teacher will send out the class notice afterwards. Print out or write your student’s name and class as directed in your teacher’s letter to facilitate the pick up process later.
