中央氣象局地震報告：2016年2月6日03時57分，發生芮氏規模6.4的強震，震央在台灣高雄市美濃區，深度約16.7公里，目前已知台南市永康區有大樓倒塌，警消救難人員正進行人員搜救行動。
慈濟基金會已啟動防災關懷機制，台南慈濟志工目前正在準備熱食，同時於台南分會成立協調中心。
美國慈濟人經由各種管道啟動法親關懷，瞭解其家人是否安好，是否需要進一步的協助。

親愛的家長們 (English version will follow)

相信大家昨天都過了一個快樂春節. 祝大家今天情人節快樂 !

孩子們昨天成功的演出讓您們很驕傲吧 ! 感恩指導老師以及班級老師耐心, 細心, 用心, 這麼有愛心的教育我們大家的孩子. 我們的老師都是最棒的.

 

感恩所有攤位的家長, 64 位服務的家長, 24 位 TA, 20 位老師, 再加上我們的志工, 每一個人都是昨天 20 個攤位成功展出的最大功臣 !. 

特別感恩Wendy 媽媽和啟榮爸爸, 他們兩位都是中醫師, 每年他們都會帶著他們的一群好夥伴, 也是我們的家長, 一起提供年節食品給全校學生品嘗, 這兩年我們的家長也跟進品嘗的隊伍, 使得場面更熱鬧, 也加重了他們的工作量. 深深的感恩這群香積菩薩在簡陋的"廚房"毫無怨尤, 默默的為大家服務. 尤其今年由於我的疏忽, 請大家帶環保碗筷的宣導有點匆促, 因此成效不大, 以致剛開始時食物區的場面有點失控, 很對不起大家, 下次我們一起努力改進. 讓我們每年都可以繼續享受美食, 又可貼心的照顧到食品攤位的家長以及事後洗碗筷的志工. 

 

感恩的話說不盡, 附上活動精彩畫面, 家長們在為孩子的表演感到驕傲之時, 也為自己攤位的演出自傲一下吧 ! 校方感恩也需要每一位的繼續護持.

對了, 昨天舞獅臨時跑出來的那隻逗趣的猴子是Alex 爸爸, 他是我們學校的大寶貝 ! 感恩他每年都會設計出新的遊戲, 讓孩子們很興奮.

感恩大家護持食品義賣, 也感恩大家慷慨解囊援助台南地震救災, 昨天我們募得 $1,600, 加上食品義賣 $500. 還有 Microsoft Match Program $260, 再加上我們全校親師生的虔心祈禱, 祈望能稍緩鄉親的憂愁, 共聚福緣, 轉災禍為平安 !

募款持續中, 二月的每個星期六我們都會有捐款箱在學校餐廳的行政辦公桌, 請大家把愛心付諸行動, 讓我們的鄉親們感受遠方的我們送去的溫暖與滿滿祝福.

Dear Parents of Tzu Chi Academy Seattle

Happy Valentine’s Day! I hope that everyone had a fun event at school yesterday. You must be very proud of your student’s performance. Big thanks to all the teachers and helping parents who led the students to chant Chinese poems, sing songs, cultivating Qigong and Lion dance.

We had 20 booths provided by 64 parents, 24 TAs and 20 teachers in addition to all staff volunteers. They met weekly to plan the games, build the stations, and purchase all goodies over two months, all for the students of the school. What a great love from them!

I would also like to show my sincere gratitude to Wendy and her husband, both Chinese medicine practitioners, and their team who have supported and provided free food for the whole school kids during new year events in past five years. And they are still very passionate about their offers. We thank and love you, Wendy team!

Another parent that kids love the most is Alex who started making Angry bird two years ago, then he invented new game each year. I believe all kids played and loved his games. Thank you Alex, such an amazingly handy, creative and fun dad to have,

On side of fun activities and booths, we had a successful food sale fundraising yesterday. We made $500 from food sale and received $1600 donation plus $260 Microsoft matching for the victims of Taiwan earthquake happened about 9 days ago. Thanks for your kindness, caring and sharing.

We will continue accepting donation for Taiwan and praying for the peace in the world! Again, have a great Valentine ’s Day and see you all next Saturday for thank you party at school cafeteria at 10:00 am.

2-13 新春活動歡喜落幕

感恩大家共同圓滿今日的新春活動.

感恩秀淇老師和淑文老師承擔司儀, 讓活動更顯溫馨.

五個節目, 九個班級, 不但學生連老師都盡全力演出, 感恩所有的指導老師 & 班級老師.

我覺得今年的"獅子" 表情好多, 感恩兩位舞獅老師姚世昌 & 趙國幹, 雖說是新手老師, 可潛力無窮 ! 不過聽說幕後最大功臣是怡君媽媽, 感恩每一位 !

今年為了讓家長也能舒服坐下來看表演, 我們把兩邊椅子全拉出來, 無形中增加了表演的挑戰性. 感恩老師帶領學生克服挑戰, 完美演出. 今年的攝影團隊很忙, 不但要顧兩邊, 我發現他們鏡頭對準老師們的示範帶領也是很長的時間喔 !

我們的老師都是最棒的 !

最要感恩的是春成爸爸 & 士榮爸爸帶領的安全團隊, 從昨天的布置到今天活動的每一環節都毫不含糊. 短短時間拆舞台布景, 換兩面牆的場地布置為遊戲攤位. 尤其今年遊戲攤位很多粗重的道具, 使得搬運任務更顯辛苦, 但我們的爸爸都是超人, 所有使命圓滿達成 ! 

感恩志工夥伴, 今年因為不少教育志工夥伴請假回台, 因此我們邀約支會八位師兄姐以及六位慈青同學來支援.  "合作"中考驗著我們的默契, 感恩大家變化球接得美妙, 雖有點不整齊但熱鬧有餘, 大家快樂過年. 特別感恩總務翁師兄 & 玉鳳師姐事前事後的整理物資讓活動順暢. 每個螺絲釘都是活動成功的要素 !

1/16 第三次家長與行政座談說明

快樂的寒假結束後, 接著將是連續上課的第二學期, 首先登場的是慶祝中國新年的新春活動喔!

相信大多數的家長都知道 Tillicum School 今年暑假要拆掉重建, 所以我們新的學年度必須換學校, 再加上今年有許多的變數, 希望您們都有收到學校新的行事曆, 為了讓大家更清楚學校今明年的動向, 校方敬邀大家再次到學校來聽取說明並交流溝通, 讓家長們能很清楚的知道您孩子在學校的活動, 可以和孩子們同步成長.

99%的孩子都很喜歡爸爸媽媽到學校來幫忙, 或是和他們一起上學, 孩子們感受到爸媽對他們教育的重視而願意主動學習!

1/9/2016 恢復上課

經過了幾週的假期後, 要恢復上課了, 相信大家都已充好電, 準備好要回到學校繼續學習了吧!.

接下來的幾週我們將緊鑼密鼓地籌備2/13的新春活動, 我們還需要很多家長的幫忙一起來完成這個讓孩子過年的活動, 如果您可以幫忙, 請到餐廳找行政教育志工師姐們報名.

1) 11:00 - 11:20  新春活動第二次開會(在餐廳)

今年的新春活動將在 2/13/2016 舉行. 感恩去年幫忙的家長以及今年有意願幫忙的家長在上星期六與校方開會, 有了一個最初步的策畫,  我們將在 12/12 向大家說明, 並邀請更多的家長一起來為孩子們留下美麗的回憶.

上次的人文課中, 大家體驗了用一公分鉛筆寫字的辛苦, 這週我們將把剛剛獲得德國紅點設計大獎 (Red Dot Design Award) 最高品質獎的"淨斯多功能福慧床"帶到現場介紹給大家, 機會難得請勿錯過

12/5 Book Sale for Syria refugee children

Together, we accomplished a great book sale for Syria Childern’s education fundraising. Last Saturday, 12/5, we raised $661 from the sale. The money has been donated to Tzu Chi Foundation in the name of students and family of Tzu Chi Academy Seattle. It will be designated to support the Syria refugee children’s education in Turkey. Your participation and aide are much appreciated.

Chinese New Year Celebration Planning meeting

The planning for Chinese New Year celebration has kicked off last Saturday. There are exciting ideas circulating! The second meeting will be held at 11:00 on 12/12. We need more parents to involve and help out. Please join the planning meeting in school cafeteria. It is also a great opportunity to meet old and new friends while we support our children’s education.

Third Humanity Class for parent 

As promised, the third parent class will be given on 12/12, from 11:20 ~ 11:50 AM. We will talk about an award-winning design made by Tzu Chi Foundation. Please join us to learn why Tzu Chi invent a folding bed through their mission? During the class, a real product will be brought to the class. You can try it out or test it. You would learn why it wins the world award. Don’t miss the opportunity!

2015-16 Calendar Updates 行事曆變動

親愛的家長們

這星期六 我們於餐廳說明行事曆變動以及學校即將舉辦的故事書義賣和新春活動的籌備事宜.

            行事曆變動 (you can find updated Calendar link on the right pane under  Adminstration)

1) 10/31/2015 由於Tillicum School 電腦作業出錯導致我們臨時停課而必須補課

2) 約於三週前接到Tillicum School 通知: 因為該校將於 5/21/2016 承辦 Bellevue School District 的音樂活動而要求我們調課.

上星期六學生沒上課, 是老師們的精進研習日, 行政團隊與老師們討論各種調課的可能性, 最後決定以 2/20 & 4/2 兩天取代 10/31 & 5/21 的課. 校方已經和 Tillicum School 確定換課的日期, 同時也緊急與School District 協調, 讓我們可以在 5/21借用Newport High school表演藝術中心舉辦結業典禮

校方竭盡所能面對這無法預知的變化球, 這是老師與行政團隊投票的共識決. 我們知道有些家庭可能已經訂下休假的計畫, 若是造成您們的不便, 我們深感抱歉, 請多包容.

另外, 近期有兩項活動, 也敬邀您的行動支持喔!

Special announcement for school closure (10/31/2015)

親愛的老師 & 家長們:

今天早上(10/31)我們一發現學校沒開門就馬上聯繫管理員與 Tillicum 學校, 但一直沒收到回覆, 最後只好在 9:15 時宣布學校停課.

感恩所有家長的諒解, 並感恩所有老師配合校方處裡緊急事件.

校方到現在都還未收到 Tillicum 學校的回覆, 我們已經送函到 Tillicum 學校要求解釋, 並且要求商討補課的時間, 若有進一步的訊息會盡速與家長們聯繫.

請家長們幫忙向孩子們解釋, 並謝謝他們今天乖巧的接受這麼一個大的變化球, 同時我們也祈願學校的 custodian 一切都好, 沒有令人擔心的事發生.

今天會是大家難忘的一次萬聖節 !

提醒家長, 下星期六 11/7 是 Veteran's Day 不上課, 不過我們可以不必等那麼久才見面, 下星期日 11/8 是慈濟 22 周年慶, 歡迎家長帶孩子們一起與我們共同慶祝慈濟西雅圖 22 周年.  http://www.tzuchiacademyseattle.blogspot.com/

Dear Teachers, Parents and Students,

Hope you all had a fun and safe Halloween!

This letter is to address what has happened to our school this morning and why we have to call off the day in a short notice.

At 8:25 AM, when the volunteers arrived at school, we immediately realized that the whole school was still locked and dark. The custodian didn't come to the school to get it ready for us in terms of unlocking the classrooms and cafeteria and turning the heater on . The volunteers made several attempts to reach custodian and Tillicum staff but  without any success. 

At 8:55 AM, our principal made the call to ask all parents at the drop-off not to leave yet. 

After waiting for another 15 minutes, 9:10 AM, the custodian still didn't respond to the pager and the voice message we left. Principal had no choice but to announce the dismissal of school as the final decision.

We understand such an unexpected incident must have caused some inconvenience to all, we certainly hope you would also understand how frustrated we have been through while we failed to reach a responsible personnel of Tillicum.

A letter has been emailed to Tillicum to request for an explanation and to give us some options to make up the missed Saturday school hours. We will keep you all posted once the final schedule change is made.

On the other hand, we are worry about the custodian. We sincerely hope that there is nothing bad happened at the Custodian's end to prevent him/her from fulfilling the duty.

Please let students know how well they behaved and cooperated today, we are very proud of them. This is going to be a unforgettable Halloween memory for all of us, isn't it?

By the way, we would like to remind you that there will be no school next Saturday, 11/7 for the Veteran's day weekend as listed on school calendar.
